Q - I am unable to edit or delete parties in Tab B - Parties.
Sometimes, we are unable to remove a party as a beneficiary, trustee, etc. in Tab B. When you receive an error that the parties cannot be deleted or changed, it is possible to circumvent this error by changing the parties in the Document Production tab instead.
First, open the Document Production tab and then double-click on the document to be amended (the appropriate will, power of attorney, etc.). Then double-click the clause requiring a party to be amended (for example, Appointment of Executor in a will document). A window will open with a magnifying glass appearing beside the party field(s). You may choose a party or amend the party using the magnifying glass:
Save your changes and produce your document.
Q - I am receiving a message that the date is invalid when using a field with a calendar.
The error generally will say "Invalid date range. Enter a value using 'dd/mm/yyyy' as the format."
This error occurs when the factory date and time settings on your pc do not match the format that Willbuilder expects to see. To correct this on your pc, please close out of Willbuilder and complete the following steps:
- Right-click on the date/time appearing on the taskbar (at the far right side of your monitor). Choose Adjust date/time. (A pop-up window may appear instead; in this case, choose date and time settings).
- Click on the option 'Change date and time'. If a settings window opens, choose 'Change calendar settings'.
- Under date formats, you will need to adjust both the short date and the long date. The short date should read 'M/d/yyyy' and the long date should read 'dddd, dd MMMM, yyyy' as shown below. Then click OK to update the information. When you log back into Willbuilder, the error should no longer appear.
