This article describes how to add a co-counsel to a file for our firm or opposing firms within Automated Civil Litigation (ACL)
Add Co-Counsel
- Click Parties
- Click Add Lawyer-represented party
- Type the name of the Firm, then select from the populated list
- If the Firm is unlisted click + symbol to add the new Firm
- Click Add Lawyer and add the lawyer Information
- Click OK
- A pop-up notice will appear advising that no represented parties have been added
- Click Yes
- Click the Document Previews and select Lawyers for to amend wording, for example, Co-Counsel for the Plaintiff in order for the correct wording to appear on court forms.
- Amend the Service Details for Our Firm and Backpage
- Amend the Service Details for Service List if required, depending on which party co-counsel is acting for.
- Edit the service details and/or backpage by highlighting and cutting co-counsel details. Paste the firm’s details into either your firm’s service details/backpage or the opposing firm’s service list, and complete by making any manual edits needed.
**Please note that if the Service List previews are refreshed, you will lose any manual edits made.**
- Once complete return to the Parties page.
- Select Co-Counsel Firm to edit
- Uncheck Include on Service List
