In this article, we look at managing tasks at scale in Unity® Entity Management by either bulk-creating tasks or importing them from template entities using Reports.
This process is useful for high-volume workflows like annual compliance, post-incorporation processes, or jurisdictional updates.
Managing tasks across hundreds of entities individually is time-consuming. By utilising Bulk Functionality within a Custom Report, you can apply a standardized task or a complex task template to multiple entities at once. This ensures data integrity and consistency across your entire database while significantly reducing manual entry.

Bulk Create Tasks
Use this method when you need to assign a single, specific task (such as a 2026 Compliance filing) to a group of selected entities.
To do this:
- Navigate to Reports and open or create a new Report.
- Click the Apply Filter button to produce results.
- Proceed to select the checkboxes next to the entities you wish to update to specify where the task will be created.
- Click the Actions button and select + Create Tasks.
- In the Bulk Create Tasks modal, enter the Task Name, Type, Due Date, and Priority
- Review the Assignee (defaults to the creator) and click Create task to finalize
Note: The new task appears immediately in each entity’s Tasks section. Properties like priority and due date are applied consistently across all selected records. |
Bulk Import Tasks from a Template
This method allows you to pull pre-configured tasks, complete with descriptions, tags, assignees, and custom statuses- from a designated Template Entity.
- Follow steps 1-3 from the Bulk Create Tasks section above to select your target entities in a Custom Report
- Click the Actions button and select + Add Tasks from Template Entity
- In the Import Tasks modal, search for and select your Template Entity from the dropdown, and click Add
- Select the specific Task(s) you want to import from the list
- Click Add Tasks to finalize
Note: Imported tasks retain all configurations from the template, including Tags, Descriptions, and Custom Statuses. This allows you to update workflows in one place (the template) and deploy them at scale. |
