This article describes how to search for a Will on the Canada Will Registry.
Search for a Will
We offer two ways to search for a will:
- Professional Will Search ($170 + HST) - The best way to search for a will. Unlike a Standard Will Search which only searches Wills registered with the Canada Will Registry, a Professional Will Search has a much broader reach. It also checks for unregistered wills by publishing a Will Search notice to our site, which is viewable to the public.
-
Standard Will Search ($95 + HST) - only searches the registered wills on the Canada Will Registry.

- If a matching will is found, we alert the law firm who registered it. They will have 30 days to contact you directly and they may ask for additional information to determine whether or not you are entitled to know about the will.
- If you haven't heard back from anyone with a matching will within 30 days of your search, you can assume no matching will was found.
