This article contains Frequently Asked Questions in regard to the Rich Text Editor release 7.2.10 within eCore
Q - What is the Rich Text Editor for schedules?
A - The Rich Text Editor is a new feature that allows you to apply advanced formatting to the content within your Ontario Articles of Incorporation schedules. This includes options like different font styles (bold, italic, underline), text alignment (left, center, right, justify), creating tables, and using numbered or bulleted lists, along with built-in spell check.
Q - Why did you add a Rich Text Editor?
A - We added the Rich Text Editor to give you more control over the presentation and readability of your schedule content. This enhancement ensures that your Articles of Incorporation are professionally presented, reflecting any specific formatting requirements you may have.
Q - Where can I find the Rich Text Editor?
A - The Rich Text Editor will automatically appear when you are entering or editing content within the schedule sections of your Ontario Articles of Incorporation filings in eCore.
Q - Will the formatting I apply in the Rich Text Editor be visible on the final registered Ontario Articles of Incorporation?
A - Yes! Any formatting, styling, tables, or lists you create using the Rich Text Editor in eCore will be reflected on the final registered Articles of Incorporation, ensuring consistency between your input and the final official document.
Q - Are there any limitations to the formatting I can use?
A - While the Rich Text Editor offers a wide range of formatting options, we recommend keeping documents clear and concise. Extremely complex layouts or excessive use of varied formatting might be challenging to render perfectly across all platforms. We encourage you to use the features that best enhance readability and structure.
Q - Can I copy and paste content from other programs (e.g., Microsoft Word) into the Rich Text Editor? Will formatting be preserved?
A - When pasting content from another program, we will strip font styles to be the default font. If you would like a different font type, you will need to select the desired font type from the Rich Text Editor after pasting. Other formatting like bold, italics, alignment, tables, and lists should generally be preserved. We recommend reviewing the pasted content carefully and generating a draft to ensure it appears as intended.
Q - What if I prefer plain text? Do I have to use all the formatting options?
A - No, you are not required to use all the formatting options. You can continue to enter plain text if you prefer. The Rich Text Editor simply provides the option for enhanced formatting when you need it.
Q - Will this change affect previously filed Articles of Incorporation?
A - No, this change will only apply to new filings where you use the Rich Text Editor for schedules. Previously filed documents will remain unchanged in their original format.
Q - What happens to any drafts Ontario Articles of Incorporation I currently have in progress?
A - Your existing drafts will continue to function as before. No existing formatting will be automatically added or changed in your saved drafts. When you are editing your draft, you can choose to apply new Rich Text formatting as needed before completing your filing.
Q - What happens to my existing Ontario Articles of Incorporation Templates?
A - Your existing templates will continue to function as before. No existing formatting will be automatically added or changed in your saved templates.
Q - How do I update my existing Ontario Articles of Incorporation templates to new Rich Text formatting?
A - To update your templates with new formatting, you will need to select to use the desired template, make your formatting changes within the Rich Text Editor then select the Template button to create a new template. Once you save the new template, it will retain the new formatting for future filings.
Q - What happens to schedules I have saved in my precedents and provisions database?
A - Schedules stored in your existing precedents and provisions database will remain in plain text. To apply rich text formatting to these schedules, you have two options:
- Create a new Ontario Articles of Incorporation, copy the schedule content from your database, apply the desired rich text formatting, and then save this newly formatted schedule back to your database (as a new or updated entry).
- Alternatively, create a new Ontario Articles of Incorporation, copy and paste the schedule content from a rich text source (like Microsoft Word), apply any required rich text formatting within the eCore Rich Text Editor, and then save this schedule to your database.
Prior to saving the schedule to the database, we recommend generating a draft PDF to confirm the schedule formatting displays as you expect. |
Q - My precedents and provisions show "weird code characters" for the schedules. What happens when I use them?
A - The "weird code characters" you might see in your precedents and provisions are rich text formatting code. Since precedents and provisions save in a plain text representation, this code becomes visible. However, when you choose to use one of these schedules in your Ontario Articles of Incorporation, the Rich Text Editor will interpret this code, and the "weird code characters" will convert into the intended rich text format, appearing correctly in the editor.
Q - What happens if I use the same schedule for Alberta or Canada Articles of Incorporation
A - Currently, the Rich Text Editor functionality and rendering of rich text is specific to Ontario Articles of Incorporation. If you use a schedule that has been formatted with the Rich Text Editor in an Ontario filing and then attempt to use the exact same schedule content for an Alberta or Canada Articles of Incorporation filing in eCore, the content will include rich text markup, but it will not be rendered as rich text. This means the visual formatting (e.g., specific fonts, tables, advanced styles) will not be applied as it is for Ontario. We recommend tailoring schedules specifically for each jurisdiction to ensure optimal presentation.
Q - Who can I contact if I have more questions or encounter an issue?
A - If you have any further questions or encounter any issues while using the Rich Text Editor, please contact our support team at clientcare@dyedurham.com.
